Goshala, a sankrit word (‘Go means cow and “Shala” means a shelter place. Go+Shala =Shelter for cows) means the abode or sanctuary for cows, calves, which is also meant to rescue, shelter, feed, protect, treat and rehabilitate the sick, weak, homeless cattle, handicapped.The Goshalas symbolize our culture heritage for the animal welfare and denote our love & compassion for animals. The cow is considered very sacred in Indian culture due to its multi-disciplinary utility. Cows and its progeny have been the backbone of our rural economy for ages. The owners of
cows are abandoning them resulting in a huge population of stay cattle. The welfare of stray cattle needs an urgent attention.
The organization has been witnessing the problems faced by the senior citizens while working for the older people. The target group consists of elderly people living below poverty line, those who have been abandoned by their families and those who are facing some mental distress. Any person is able to work for ones’ food till he has stamina and vigor but it is considerably lost after reaching sixties. Thus, such elderly people get dependent on their children who do not care for them property. They are often considered as additional burden and are neglected by their own family members.
Adishankara Foundation designed to bridge the gap between knowledge and practice in the designed development and operation of systems for helping the aged persons. Amidst today’s volatile and dynamic economic environment, random approaches to tackling elderly issues are increasingly becoming lethal for organizations and projects; therefore use of practical assistance is indeed becoming a must especially as it is possible to take advantage of advances made by Adishankara Foundation Old age home project.
In our project area number of Orphan, Semi Orphan and Street Children, rag pickers, single parent children are found. The problem of orphan / street children is acute due to urbanization and industrialization. Due to the deaths of HIV/AIDS affected persons, Re-marriage of deserted / widowed / divorce women, absence of love and security in the families, Family disputes, Unwanted pregnancy of Trafficking / Sexually exploited girls; these orphan and street children are left without care and support. These children are involved in rag picking; pick
pocketing and participating in anti social, criminal activities. Therefore, Adishankara Foundation envisage mainstreaming these children in the national building by providing care, support and protection in our “HOME & SCHOOL FOR ORPHANS”
Personal health services are the services provided by the hospitals, health centers, and clinics. The care provided has been traditionally classified into – 1.Promotion of health 2.Prevention of disease. 3.Early diagnosis & treatment 4. Rehabilitation.
The Ayurvedic system is the very ancient life science which deals with the prevention and cure of the disease with the pro-nature approach. Today is the era of life style disorders and Ayurveda have a unique approach towards these ailments. So the scope of the Ayurvedic hospital in today’s’ scenario is crucial.
The location due to poor access and low diversity in resources remains economically backward. Activities of the proposed hospital will result in an increase in the income level of people through employment. With this background, the objective of the project is to set up an Ayurvedic Hospital. The location is at the foot of the famous Nandi hill in the vicinity offers a serene natural setting.
